Come play outside! Valley View offers a variety of outdoor experiences that connect people to nature, community, and the great outdoors.

Join us for a hike under starry skies, hone your bird watching skills or forage in the forest while building lasting memories with friends and family. In addition to what we offer, we share our space with partner organizations who have great programs that we don’t and are aligned with our mission. Leaders of our after-school Nature Clubs and Art in Nature summer camp are great examples of key partners who share their skills to help us lay the groundwork for future nature enthusiasts.

Night Hike Series

Join us and check out nature’s nightlife.

Each month, weather permitting, we offer a 2-mile, 60–90-minute stroll through peaceful forests and fields. From time to time, we add a little extra charm—a guest guide, a cozy fire, or a special event like our beloved ugly Christmas sweater hike.

These adventures are open to all ages, and your friendly, leashed dogs are welcome to join the fun. Be sure to dress for the weather.

Check the calendar for monthly dates, times, and details. Let’s explore the sights and sounds of the night together!”

Trail Mix Events

There are endless ways to enjoy time on the Valley View trails.

Each year our partners and volunteers help to build a menu of activities so we can offer a variety of activities. Bird watching, breakfast in the woods, foraging, insect identification have all been popular and remain top of the list. We’re always looking for new ways to connect people with nature. Share your talents and experience! We’d love to collaborate with you to create unique and engaging programs for our community. Check the calendar for upcoming events and details.

Art in Nature

Imagination and creativity inspired by outdoor adventure.

Led by experienced Art Educator Tracy Huggins, small groups of students will share summer nature adventures and find inspiration for their works of art. Imagine sketching by the river, painting with leaves, and creating tie-dye masterpieces inspired by the colors of the forest. Our camp is packed with fun activities like pottery, painting, and more, all designed to connect kids with nature and spark their creativity.

After School Nature Clubs

Less screen time, more sunshine!

Kids love outdoor adventures after a school day; playing, exploring and discovering along the trails! Each week, students become adventurers hiking through forests and fields feeling the sun warm their faces, listening to birdsong fill the air, and discovering the wonders hidden in every leaf and puddle. From crafting whimsical leaf art to identifying animal tracks in the mud, our engaging activities spark curiosity and ignite a lifelong passion for the natural world.
